It May Never Be the Same

March 10, 2009

David Clinger, nationally known land planner based in Denver, predicts that the past suburban housing model that dominated the country over the last 40 years will be revamped when the economy and the housing market recover.

Green, sustainable development with higher densities and smaller, more diverse units will be built in walkable communities.  These planned developments will reduce urban sprawl, encourage energy efficiency and promote water saving xeriscape yards, parks and open space opportunities.

Compact, single family homes, townhomes, condos, rentals, home based offices and neighborhood centers will reduce home and development costs while encouraging walking, biking and community based recreation in smaller mixed-use neighborhoods.

See "It May Never Be the Same," an article written by David Clinger for Colorado Real Estate Journal, and "Rethinking Suburbia: Urban Sprawl vs. Compact Development," an article written by David Clinger for Sustainable Land Development Today, for more insight on changing how we build.
